Summoner backstory help.. Please..?

So, I'm wanting my next character to be a summoner, And my party and GM have already said I can do it if I want and to stop worrying and just do it. Now, I'm struggling a bit with backstory and race for my summoner.

My idea is a guy who has summoned a warrior angel eidolon who uses a large sword, But I dont know what race to make him, Or how he came to summon a warrior angel or why.. And my brain is at a stand still..

On a more serious note, character was in mortal danger, an angel came down to save him/her, and then a) basically took the job as his/her guardian angel or b) fell in love with character (old norse stories seem to be full of valkyries falling in love with a mortal warrior).
