Advice on a build based on a back story

Silver Crusade

So I'm about to play in an Ironfang Invasion game and I had this kind of cool idea for a character but I'm having a hard time figuring out the class level breakdown of the character to get everything I want from it. So here's the breakdown

Character is an elf who was abandoned by her nomadic tribe in the forest after she showed signs of being blessed by Dahak. She continues to live in the forest for hundreds of years as kind of a hermit. She does however grow fond of one particular village... Yada yada yada.

The main thing I want this character do is to transform into a dragon and fight. The way I've seen that I like the most is making her a dragon Oracle but I feel like she needs more melee so I was thinking about giving her a level in monk so that she can do unarmed strikes since you will be getting a claw attacks with one of her Revelations. But what I wonder if I should just skip the level in Monk and go with taking the feat unarmed strike. Normally when I do oracles I take extra Revelation several times most commonly at first level. The character would not be a lawful character so becoming a monk is a little harder for her but taking the level in Monk would lessen the feat costs for the character. So I'm not sure what exactly do there to try to get it the best possible way.

I'm probably trying to do too much with very little so bear with me. I'm very much a concept first mechanical build second person. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dragon Disciple prestige class would probably work really well with this concept. That usually starts as draconic bloodline sorcerer, but you should be able to make other classes work. These are the prereqs:
Requirements

To qualify to become a dragon disciple, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Race: Any nondragon.

Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 5 ranks.

Languages: Draconic.

Spellcasting: Ability to cast 1st-level arcane spells without preparation. If the character has sorcerer levels, he must have the draconic bloodline. If the character gains levels of sorcerer after taking this class, he must take the draconic bloodline.

Oracles are 3/4 Bab, so you will be ok in melee, but they are also 9 level casters, so magic will often, especially at higher levels be a better option for your actions. With that in mind, and also the other powers of the dragon mystery, you probably won't have all that many rounds in which you will want to be clawing. While this may not be exactly what you are thinking of, it is probably a better way to play this class. I'd probably just go with a cestus on one hand rather then delay spell and mystery progression by a level of monk or wasting a feat on unarmed strike.

If you really want to be pure combat dragon, I'd suggest a draconic bloodline bloodrager.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Draconic bloodline bloodrager 4/oracle 1/Dragon Disciple 10?

If you're willing to totally ignore the fluff, maybe go Alchemist/Master Chymist? You can take the Feral Mutagen and Wings Mutagen, and I think there is a Breath Weapon Mutagen to convert bombs into breath weapons. Just treat your infusions as herbal remedies. ;-)

EDIT:

Alchemist also gives you Knowledge nature, Perception, and Survival as class skills, which are woodsy hermit types of skills, and bombs synergize well with an elf's bonus to Dex and Int scores.

Half Elf > Racial Heritage: Kobold > Scaled Disciple

Hits notes of being a Kobold deity, and keeps their caster level high.

BTW, the Dragon Oracle Mystery is basically the Sorcerers Dragon Bloodline.
