Feats for my mount

Advice

I'm playing as a multiclassed character - Hunter with a few levels of Unchained Rogue. My animal companion is a Boar which my halfling uses as a mount. He's level 6 at the moment and will be jumping straight to level 9 as I will be taking Boon Companion then.

Right now, he has the feats Light Armor, Medium Armor, and Iron Will. The Hunter's teamwork feats are Outflank, Paired Opportunists, Pack Flanking, Broken Wing Gambit, and Precise Strike, which of course the boar shares.

I'm thinking of getting him Improved Bull Rush, for which I'll need Power Attack, and then Greater Bull Rush. I'm wondering if I should retrain Iron Will into Power Attack, though that will drop his Will to 4. I don't want to retrain Medium Armor Proficiency as he is wearing Medium Armor right now that gives him good Acid Resistance. And he needs that as we often do little side quests where we hunt Acid breathing dragons.

Any thoughts? This is his sheet: Link

Power Attack, Improved Overrun, and Greater Overrun?

Definitely keep Iron Will unless you can give it a Cloak of Resistance +2 or something. (Saddle Blanket of Resistance?)

Heck, we've hunted so many dragons and sold the parts that I can afford a +5 Cloak right off the bat. Two of them, actually. The GM likes throwing gold at us.

Awesome!

Then you can afford to re-train Iron Will.

Just be careful. If the whole party has +5 to their saves, the GM might just increase save DCs by 10. :-P

I'll remember that. I'd probably just enchant my hunter's Muleback Cords instead of buying a second cloak though. She's a halfling so I needed a way for her to carry stuff. I'm just glad we have a magic safe to keep our gold in or no one would be able to carry it all. Except maybe the human fighter/shifter. He's really strong.

You have a shifter in the party? How does he like it?

I once DMed for a goliath ranger that used to carry the horses over rivers on tightropes. And they made her make camp and dinner! Rangers are just so dang useful!

He seems to have a lot of fun with it. I'm only assuming he's a shifter as I joined about a month into the game and we play on roll20 so I've never seen his sheet. He turns into a bear and he doesn't seem to be a druid. One time, we were on a ship and being attacked by a mega shark. He shifts into his half-bear form, picks up one of the cannons to aim it, and fires. He then fails a Reflex save against the recoil and not only drops the cannon into the water but falls in himself. Where he's promptly swallowed whole by the injured and angry shark. Luckily we were able to kill it a few turns later and manage to pull him out. A week later in-game, we get attacked by a kraken. He rolls a crit with his hammer and does so much damage that he removes the tentacle he hit from ever existing in the first place.

WOW!!!

I once DMed for a half-orc barbarian 1/conjurer wizard umpteen. He got swallowed by a fiendish or half-fiend dire shark and cast dismissal around himself to get free.

I once played a druid that turned into a dire bear and inhaled a gaseous form vampire to keep it from escaping. The next round, the vampire re-materialized in my lungs!!! The DM rolled all of his dice for the damage. Thank the Ancient Forest for UMD and raise dead scrolls! LOL.

In real life, my friends (and almost me) studied tropical whalers in Lamalera, Indonesia. The harpoonist stands on the prow of the boat, spots a sperm whale, then jumps off the boat and uses his own body weight to stick the harpoon in the whale, then lands in the water with the angry and wounded whale he just stabbed!!!

I have to remind myself of that whenever I think MY job is stressful...

lol Sounds like fun.

My GM says it's ok for my boar to wear a cloak. I will be retraining Iron Will to Power Attack shortly.

That was made into a movie.

If Heather is thinking about this and/or Bull Rush, then another Teamwork Feat to consider is Harder they Fall, which gets around the Size restriction on Bull Rushing and Tripping.

I'd need to take Power Attack for that, and I can't take that without a boost to my Str. I suppose I could put my 8th level stat point into Str to qualify.
