Do Shadow Descriptor spells effect mindless creatures?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Silver Crusade

Pretty much the title, because as far as im aware one of the main appeals of spells like shadow conjuration and evocation are the ability to give illusionist casters options against mindless or already dead creatures.

Just wanted to see if this was true or not.

Mindless creatures are immune to mind affecting spells.

Shadow spells are not mind affecting.

the descriptors are different, so the answer to the title is factually Yes.

As it's just a descriptor, spells carry various descriptors and often multiple descriptors. So read carefully.

Spells like Shadow Conjuration and Shadow Evocation are a spell level above the spells they mimic and generally do less damage, but are more variable. On the whole they are underpowered.
