Doppelganger Simulacrum And how does it work exactly?

Rules Questions

RAW For Reference:
Prerequisite: Alchemist 10, alchemical simulacrum discovery

Benefit: The alchemist learns how to create a simulacrum, a soulless duplicate of his body, into which he can project his consciousness. As a full-round action, he may shift his consciousness from his current body to any one of his available doppelganger simulacra, which must be on the same plane as the alchemist. If killed in a simulacrum, he transfers to his own body automatically; if killed in his own body, he is dead. Unused simulacra (including his abandoned original body) appear to be lifeless corpses, though they do not decay. Creating a duplicate costs 1,000 gp in alchemical materials and requires 1 week to grow. The created simulacrum is a creature, not a supernatural effect.

"The alchemist learns how to create a simulacrum, a soulless duplicate of his body, into which he can project his consciousness"

So that part is what we are arguing about currently , some of use are reading this as saying " You can make a Simulacrum and it acts like the spell so it has 1/2 your HD as its HD . Others are interupting it as that you get your full HD and its a duplicate of your self. So ya thoughts and views of other people that have used it and the like?

Nothing references the Simulacrum spell, and the word "simulacrum" is a normal English word to describe a copy of something (or someone).

I'd say the copy has full HD.

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder doesn't have a 'keywords' system where given words always have the same meaning throughout the game. If they had meant for this to work as the spell they would have written something like, '...create a simulacrum, as per the spell,...'.

Further, in the example above they actually define exactly how they are using the term simulacrum... "a soulless duplicate of his body". When they provide a definition there is no reason to go looking for another one to use in its place.

All that being said... the copy has NO hit dice. Rather, the character's soul has a number of hit dice equal to their level... whether they are in their original body, a simulacrum, or floating about in the ether. The character does not suddenly lose half their hit dice when possessing a simulacrum... any more than they would be so diminished if using Magic Jar (or Possession) to control another creature.

Ty for the replies and the prospective . I can see what you are getting at. Think we were just hung up on getting "Clone" at lvl 10 pretty much.
