In need of build advice for a multi class Brawler / Unchained Rogue

Advice

I have a few questions on my new build

It's starts at level 10 and I'm not sure on a few things

1st how many levels of each class should I take?

2nd Are there any Archetype that would help me out.

3rd I plan to focus on style feats. What would be some good ones for me
/ How should my feats look.

This will be a dex based build

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Assuming that you want dex to damage with the brawler's flurry, there is a way to do that without rogue levels, two-weapon grace. It is a bit expensive in feats, true, and you want to go after styles - which can be feat-expensive too.

Rogue 4 / Brawler 6 would be the best balance if you do multiclass I think. You get the second martial flex feat at brawler 6, unchained rogue gets their dex to damage and the debilitating injury class feature. The scout rogue archetype gives you sneak attack on a charge at level 4.

For feats (assuming you're looking at a mainly combat character, rather then a very sneaky guy with some combat tricks) if you're looking at unarmed strikes switching between outslug style for mobility, panther style for defence and pummelling style to beat DR might work. For the first two you can martial flex up the next two feats in the chain when you use them. Getting Improved TWF with martial flex is also an option. Maybe something like

Rogue 1: Combat reflexes, rogue bonus - weapon finesse
Brawler 1: Brawler bonus - improved unarmed strike
Rogue 2: Panther style, rogue talent weapon training - weapon focus (unarmed strike)
Brawler 2: Brawler's flurry - TWF, brawler bonus - dirty fighting
Rogue 3: Outslug style
Rogue 4: Rogue talent combat trick - combat style master
Brawler 3: Lunge
Brawler 4
Brawler 5: Pummeling style, brawler bonus - agile maneuvers.
Brawler 6

So what are you trying to do? Mix a little bit of rogue with a lot of brawler to get a dex-to-damage punch merchant?

I disagree with some of AVR's suggestions, most notably the projected feat chain.

I've made a build guide similar to this focusing on Non-lethal damage, AKA Sap Master build. For something like this, it's fairly easy to tweak into something more generalistic, since the Sap Master was a build specifically for non-lethal damage optimization.

I'd start out with 1 level of UCRogue, take 2 levels of Brawler, then continue with 3 more levels of UCRogue, and then take the rest as Brawler. For archetypes, the Rogue can really be anything, though true effectiveness depends on what sort of combat style you're looking to emulate, and I'd consider the Beast Wrestler archetype for added defenses against brutal non-humanoid creatures (sans Giants of course), since Maneuver Training isn't that great, and the AC Bonus isn't particularly strong by the endgame compared to what you can choose with your "Favored Enemy" stuff.

Without information of race choice or attribute generation methods, or even weapon of choice, I'd be unsure as to how I could give advice that would work out, but since you want it to be Dexterity-based, I'll suggest a Half-elf since they can more easily shore up your Will Saves (which will be the bane of your build), and because they aren't too particularly imposing. (Having two FCBs is certainly nice as well with the amount of class sharing we'll have).
