So when my psychic levels to 8 I plan to take spell focus transmutation, varisian tattoo, and spell specialization.
However against some creatures my cmd will still be relatively low, what are some good ways to up it? I mean the other aspects of the spell are still great, but CMD can be brutally difficult, sometimes.

Transmuter of Korada is a trait that gives you +1 caster level with transmutations.
Orange Prism ioun stone gives +1 caster level on all spells.
If you want to use it for specific maneuvers, talk to your GM and ask them what they think applies. If you want to do bull rushes or grapples consider gauntlets of skilled maneuver or the appropriate feats.
The other point to consider is that you just have to use it when you can. Grappling a caster can be relatively easy and can shut them down, but trying the same to a giant or dragon will likely fail. So plan with your other spells to handle those situations. You could also use readied action to move you friends around with a bull rush maneuver, say out of range of an attack?
