3 Region-Signature Races - Help Needed

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm looking to make 3 races that are essentially the poster boys of their regions. Here's the info on the regions and their gods (I'll work on sorting out the gods and put it on Google Drive). I'm not sure what I want for the races outside of wanting the Aridian race to look like pharoh hounds and able to switch genders freely. Any suggestions?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For Lageus, maybe a race of catfolk that can change the colors and patterns of their fur? They use this to express emotions, but also to mark one's position in society, the leaders taking tiger- or lion-like appearance. Because of that the outsiders may even start to think that there are two races, tigrans ruling over lower catfolk.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The "Coq Gaulois" (Gallus Gallus)...in other words the common chicken, in France National Bird (the name translated as the Gaul Rooster).

So for Kartan, if you want to give it a French feel, and anthropomorphic Rooster (similar to the Tengu) could be an interesting idea.

Great suggestions! I'll do those.

Now, I'm thinking a PC-friendly, desert version of the Adlet for Aridia. What would that look like?

More like jackal than a wolf. Or you can make it Small-sized and look like a fennec fox, to make it less intimidating.

I'll just stick with anthro Pharaoh Hound. Now, what traits to give them?

Well Pharaoh Hound are:
- Hunrting dogs (by sight (mainly), buy also by smell and hearing);
- Considered intelligent, powerful and agile;

So this could be a place to start. Good INT and DEX, bonus in Athletics, bonus to Hunting.

+2 INT, +2 DEX
Skill Bonus (+2 Perception, +2 Survival, +1 Climb, +1 Swim)
Change Shape, Lesser (same race, just switches the gender chromosome between XY and YY)
Low-Light Vision

Does this look right? I think it comes to 12 RP.

XY and XX, surely? But yeah, looks OK, though I wouldn't use Race Points even to clean the toilet. Maybe they could get a feat later to do something more with the change shape ability if they choose to specialise in it. Also if they're based of a kind of dog maybe they should get the endurance feat for free.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake. :)

I'll give it endurance. I was thinking about offering some racial feats, mostly stuff like ignoring modifiers for disguising as a different race, gender, and age category, bonuses on Diplomacy, and other things (I figure that being naturally gender fluid would make it easier, but not automatic, to walk a mile in another's shoes). Any ideas for shape change feats?

Perhaps a feat which lets them turn into a non-anthro hound form as some sort of speed or battle form, or one which lets them appear as other humanoid races are the obvious ones. A feat which offers some partial changes along the line of Aspect of the Beast would work too.

How about a feat that gives them a single dog form for each gender (similar phenotype; they gain the benefits of Natural Spell while in these forms) and allows them to use Change Shape as Beast Shape, and another feat that lets them use Change Shape to take the form of one other race, chosen when they take the feat (one form for each gender; skin tone is similar to fur color and eye color stays the same)?

Anything else?
