You won't get charged until January. However, it's likely that Paizo's system will check the validity of your payment method when you place the order. That will put a temporary hold on funds but that hold will expire in a few days time.
Unfortunately, some banks don't make a distinction on the bank statement, so it can look like a charge. It will reverse in a few days time though.

Steve is correct. We don't charge for anything until it ships. However when you place an order your bank may be pinged to make sure the card is valid. When this happens most banks will put a temporary hold on the funds, which can look like a pending transaction on your end. Depending on when your order ships this will either be finalized into a charge if the order ships right away, or it will expire and the hold will be released if the order needs to wait for a while to ship (like for pre orders or back orders).
