Hello all,
I used to have a small plastic disc that had a long retractable string inside that I used for Line of Sight (and tracing Line effects), but I've lost it over the years and had no luck finding a replacement on various online stores; all I found were badge holders whose length would be way too short for LOS/line-effect checking.
Can anyone suggest a product suited for this, that I can order online?
Maybe a tape measure? I've got one which works a bit like that, though it's a plastic strip rather than a string. if you want string then there's dog leads which work like that though the holder tends to be more bulky than you'd want I think.

There are some LEGO winch pieces too.
Wouldn't just a ruler work?
A keychain tape measure might fit the bill as well. It also has the advantage of being able to be locked in the extended position.

You are all thinking too low tech.
Laser pointer.
No length limit, perfectly straight, and cheap. Can also use with your pet cat, or that catfolk player.
