Emergency Force Sphere Orientation

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

I had a player use emergency force and want to use it to create their hemisphere as a vertical half sphere in front of them as opposed to dome over them. The idea is they can then walk out of the hemisphere.

I know pathfinder breaks down in 3d (is a cone from directly above you a circle. What happens to that same cone at 45 degrees). Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing in the spell suggests it can be cast in that way. I don't allow it to be cast like that but different people will deal with it differently.

It makes a dome, which in common usage is a circular roof. So the answer is you can't do that.

One of the balancing things about the spell is that you can't in fact just 'walk out of it' and while you are protected from your opponents, they are protected from you as well.

The bottom edge of the dome forms a relatively watertight space if you are standing on a reasonably flat surface.

So the sphere goes into the ground.

Thanks all. Reading it again "dome" is actually the most important word in determining orientation. High fives to all, and double for @Dave Justus
