Compound Spell Gems and Spellthrower Fusion

Is it possible to use compound spell gems in a spellthrower fusion weapon?

The Exchange

I haven't found a no yet, it seems like you could. Though the spell thrower fusion does use a lot of singular language. This probably needs to be corrected or FAQed to clarify at least. It seems like a good idea to me, but the long load time on the fusion makes me think that RAI they didn't want people to have more than one spell per combat ready.

Remember that a compound gem can only cast one spell at a time; you cannot get around the action economy that easily! And if you fail the BAB<Level attack check, the gem is destroyed.

The BAB requirement is trivial. The spell can't exceed 1/4 the gun's item level, and your BAB only has to beat the spell's level. Unless some scrub picks up a high level weapon that is way out of his league this will never come up.

Well no, but there are some pretty great spells that I'd love to have on a non spell casting character. Who wouldn't want to pick and choose from first and second level spells as needed. Falling without a jet pack? Grab your gun and fly 1 yourself. need some cover? Fog cloud. So much utility from level 4 weapons on.

You have to cast it as a full round action, so flight 1 has very limited utility.

I'll admit it was a quick and not deeply thought out reason. But you have to admit, if you've got time to cast that full round action fly 1, then you're definitely thankful to have it.

The best use I found for this so far, perhaps not mechanically, but thematically and potentially if you have the wrong table composition, is a spellgem of Share Languages for first contact situations.

I love this.

Surround by angry natives the soldier waves the rest of the party back. "Hold on, I'm going to try and talk them down diplomatic like." Soldier then unholsters his light machine gun to begin the negotiations.

Someone make this happen.

There's a reason the glamered fusion also exists.

One of the first games I played, right after launch, our captain was an Envoy who named his spear "Peaceful Contact."
