Does this work? (first none firearm grappling hook launcher)

Rules Questions

so while trying to make a good investigator i stumbled across something really really cool. by combining these few items it seems a workable grappling hook launcher is possible.

steps to make it work.
1) have hand crossbow proficiency.
2) buy a heavy whist launcher.
3) use Grappling arrow/bolt. (located under Locks, Keys, Tools & Kits NOT the ammunition page for those using d20PFSRD)
4) attach silk rope to it
5) attach rope to a rope recaller from adventures armory 2
6) instant grappling hook launcher!!

so for 500-511 gp? you have a grappling hook that can shoot up to 30 ft and pull you up at a speed of 100ft (less then 200 lbs) or 50 ft (above 200 lbs)

this does work right?

You still need the rope to be free to launch without snagging on anything or your bolt is going to have a short flight. Other than that, yeah, that works.

Have you looked at the "Crank" Crossbows from Ranged Tactics Toolbox? Those are the non-firearm Grappling hook launcher options for crossbows.

You can also use the Barbed Arrow (same book) to do something similar with bows.

Don't think a hand crossbow version exists.
