Weapon Ranges

General Discussion

Looking at the weapon ranges for the guns in Starfinder I think they are way under ranged. In the 1770 the English Brown Bess Musket had an effective range of 50 Yards. According to table 7-4 the longest ranged weapon is 150 the same range as a brown Bess Musket. So why are the ranges so low?

because this is made to be played on a table top mostly.
So they small scaled a lot of the details

I don't have starfinder but aren't most of the weapons energy weapons, not projectiles like a musket?
*goes off to grumble about how lasers aren't very plausible in sci-fi becuase railguns are easier and more effective*

Remember the range increment is the distance where there is no range penalty for the first increment.

Maximum range is 10 times that.

Also, you are completely ignoring sniper weapons, which have range increments of up to 1000 ft (assuming you take a more action to aim.) Which means a max range of 2 miles.

Also, there are far more projectile weapons in starfinder than laser weapons. Including explosive propelled, rocket propelled, and magnetic propelled.
