I am trying to figure out if you can use the Lunge feat in conjunction with and Attack of Opportunity.
In reading the "Lunge" feat the only limit I see if you have to declare before you take any actions and suffer the -2 AC penality.
At the start of a round, if I think some bad guys my be moving up to me, could I declare I am going to use lunge if the bad guys move within 10' and then get an AOO on them as they close with my bastard sword?
It sure reads like I could but I would take the AC penality rather or not I used the lunge.

The tricky part about this is the little bit in the feat description that states "until the end of your turn." That means that outside of your turn it has no use. The vast majority of AoO take place outside of your turn.
The only way to make it function would be to take a reserved action until they come within lunge distance so you can make a single normal attack.
TL:DR- Lunge won't work for you like that, sadly.
