As the Starfinder Society kicks off its inaugural season, we already have a pretty awesome accomplishment to look back on.
At Gen Con 50 this past week, every single copy of the Starfinder Core Rulebook that Paizo brought to Indiana sold out within 6.5 hours of the start of sales. Plus, as far as I'm aware, every single Starfinder Society table was also sold out, and lines for Starfinder no-ticket-required Quests were at least an hour long throughout the entire convention.
If that's not a great start - I don't know what is!
Beyond the teasers and hints dropped by the Starfinder development team, the weeks leading up to Gen Con saw one Thurston "Bug Dad" Hillman dropping blogs to whet the public's appetite while simultaneously releasing FAQs and errata for the scenarios that GMs were preparing for Gen Con. There's a lot of congratulations in order for the successful launch of Starfinder this past week, to be certain. But here in Organized-Play land, I just wanted to give a public thank you to Thurston for making my job as a VC and a GM so much easier, and for thoroughly hooking me on the game already! Wait...was that thanks or curses...?
Three cheers of "Superior intoxicant" for Thursty, and see all of you out there in the Vast, Starfinders!

Fantastic start to a great new game! It really looks like Starfinder is something special and has knocked it out of the park, congrats to the devs, editors and everyone who worked on it, it's a beautiful piece of work!
Extra props to Thursty for all the effort he's put into keeping the online community involved in the launch as well, it really makes those who couldn't make it to Gencon in person feel involved and even more sure to try and make it in future years. I'm sure he has more important things to do than listen to our nonsense yet still he's there to answer questions and give advice, very encouraging when we have a ton of Star Finders games lined up and going :D

I was so proud to be part of the first launch of Starfinder! Part of it was Paizo staff putting their hearts and souls into a great product with a great world behind it with endless story possibilities.
Part of it was being part of a great team of fellow GMs who leapt off the precipice with me to try to provide the inaugural games of Starfinder. We were all tumbling around in the Drift, but we all found our way, even if we got a few rules wrong here and there.
I love each and every one of you. Thank you for letting me be part of the team!

We do not have all the data yet, but ran 1100 players though at least one session of the Starfinder demo in the exhibit hall. We did not track the numbers as strictly in the Sag, but considering we were running at least 6 tables in all the slots, plus started recruiting PFS GMs to run the SFS quests taking that number up to 9 tables, as well as having a near constant line and longer hours than the exhibit hall, I would guess the numbers are higher for the Sag. Regardless it was certainly an outstanding effort by the GMs and marshals working the quest/demos and the players had a lot of fun

Wow, thanks for the compliments Mike, and to everyone else here. Really, I'm just doing my best to stay communicative, and provide every player and GM with as much information as I can. I figure our fans deserve that courtesy.
Otherwise, we just had our weekly Organized Play meeting and there's tons of Plans™ moving forward. I can't wait to share even more awesome news and releases for the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild!
