Spell strike and Spell combat

Rules Questions

Hi Everyone,

I'm playing a magus for the first time in Pathfinder and ran into a strange circumstance during play. I read the article on touch spells.
http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2nler?A-Guide-to-Touch-Spells-Spellstrike-and-S pell
However it wasn't as clear as either my GM or myself would have liked.

The Scenario is:
turn 1. I use spell combat to cast shocking grasp and miss my attacks.
spell is now just a charge.
Turn 2. i attempt to use spell combat again. trying to use my previously cast spell during the attacks and then cast my new touch spell this round.

Can i get those 2 spell effects off in one turn under this condition?

Thanks so much everyone.

You can, but your second casting must be your last attack.

Otherwise you lose the charge of your first held spell.

Spell Combat tells us that "A magus can choose to cast the spell first or make the weapon attacks first, but if he has more than one attack, he cannot cast the spell between weapon attacks." So I think Brevick Axeflail is suggesting something like this.

Round 1
Initiate Spell Combat
-Cast Shocking Grasp first
-Use the free attack from S.G. with Spellstrike to make a weapon attack, but miss
-Use your full attack with Spellstrike to make weapon attacks, but miss them all
End Spell Combat still holding the charge

Round 2
Initiate Spell Combat
-Use your full attack with Spellstrike to make weapon attacks (If you hit then the charge is delivered)
-Cast Touch Spell last (If you were still holding the charge from S.G. then it is now lost)
End Spell Combat holding the charge from the Touch Spell
Use the free attack from the Touch Spell with Spellstrike to make a weapon attack

This sort of thing works just fine.

In fact, he could choose not to cast his second spell if he wanted. If none of the attacks with the first spell landed, he could just decline to take the spell at the end. (Thus avoiding losing the first spell.)

Keep in mind, in Round 2, if he misses his first attack and chooses to hold the spell, there is no second attack. The character has chosen to keep the charge rather then loose it for a new casting of another spell. At higher levels, the character can still use the iteraves, but if he misses all of them, he only gets the extra attack through Spellstrike when he casts the spell within the same turn, held spells needs to be delivered through the normal action economy.

There is a guide that Grick has up that explains the interaction between the two abilities very well. Wish I had time to provide a link, but a search can find it easily enough.

The OP included a broken link to Grick's Guide.

Thanks All for the help on this question.

Appreciate it :)
