Swashbuckler's Finesse Question

Rules Questions

Swashbuckler Finesse (Ex)

At 1st level, a swashbuckler gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons, and she can use her Charisma score in place of Intelligence as a prerequisite for combat feats. This ability counts as having the Weapon Finesse feat for purposes of meeting feat prerequisites.

Does this effect allow a character to use Dexterity on attack rolls with a Ratfolk Tailblade (as it is a light weapon)? Or does the Swashbuckler's Finesse ability require the weapons to be piercing?

Basically, the underlying question is: does the ability read "light or one-handed piercing weapons", or "light or one-handed piercing weapons"? (The former instance only applying the ability to piercing weapons, the latter allowing Swashbucklers to use Kukris with Dexterity on attack rolls because the piercing only modifies the "one-handed" property).

The feat "Slashing Grace" was created in order to allow Swashbucklers to use their class features with slashing weapons (including Swashbuckler's Finesse). However, this was deemed "too weak" to be a feat so the dex-to-damage clause was added in order to make it worth a feat, opening up a big ol' can of worms.

I'm honestly not sure how slashing grace works with a weapon you wield with a nontraditional limb. I think if you attack only with your tailblade, it should work.

There are quite a lot of instances within Paizo-published material that imply it is the former reading, to apply to either light piercing weapons or one-handed piercing weapons.

It's light piercing weapons, and one handed piercing weapons, unless you have a feat or ability that allows another damage type to count as piercing, such as dervish dance or slashing grace. It doesn't apply to light bludgeoning or slashing weapons.
