Zen archers and rapid shot

Advice

Liberty's Edge

Something I am curious about, almost all Zen archer builds I have seen include rapid shot as a first level feat. I am wondering about the reason behind this as rapid shot gives you two shots each at a -2 which is the same as flurry gives so it seems redundant to me. Is it because you combine it with many shot at higher level as opposed to flurry? Thanks for any thoughts.

Sovereign Court

Not sure which build you are looking at...but it's a general consensus that it is the worst idea.

A zen archer cannot use Rapid Shot or Manyshot when making a flurry of blows with his bow.

So don't take those feats, take feats that you can use with your class features instead.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks that confirms what I thought. Maybe I was looking at older guides that has those feats in them.

Scarab Sages

It's usually only taken if you are going to dip zen archer. If you are only taking three levels, its better to ignore flurry and use rapid shot/manyshot like other archers. If you are going pure ZAM, ignore those feats.

I saw that which is why I was so confused. :)

Because Zen Archer is a good dip for those feats and other abilities.

Like a character that starts off with 3 levels in zen archer and multiclasses into Inquisitor. Can be pretty much based on strength and wisdom only. Since you stop leveling in monk your flurry doesn't improve, but instead you could use Rapid Shot and Manyshot.
