yes of course! but without improved disarm... (A) provokes aoO and all damage suffered are malus in the CMB disarm maneuver

There is no infinite loop because after a certain point you lack the resources to make more AoOs.

If the opponent is already tripped and is now prone, would be even be able to make an AoO?

Yes. Being prone gives you a –4 penalty to melee attack rolls (among other things), but you can still attack. In fact, I think there's builds out there who's whole shtick is to fight while being prone. Though someone else have to fill you in on the details.
