Although the Fourth of July is a US Holiday, it provides a nice summer break point to celebrate. It's a great day to spend time with our families and people we love! I thought it might be fun to tell Tonya, John, Linda (and even Thursty, the Canadian we love so well) some things bring the spark to our lives and keep us going with Organized Play.
What makes you a firework? What makes you burst with excitement about Organized Play? Any adventures you are looking forward to? Characters that you love to play? People that you look forward to gaming with? Sparkle and share your joy with everyone today!
Some things I am excited for:

Great idea, Hmm!
The things I still love about PFS haven't really changed. Getting new people to try Pathfinder (or RPGs in general) still tops the list. Whether it's folks migrating from another game system or people who just happen upon one of our events, it's great to introduce people to Golarion.
Our group has gone up and down in number of games and number of players, and I don't make as many regular nights as I'd like to anymore, but our weekly Lodge games are still going strong after nearly 6 years. It's mostly because of the great material that has come out scenario-wise (plus the great GMs and players, of course). There's been such a variety of content released and sanctioned for PFS. Thanks for that!
PaizoCon - I'm still riding the high from meeting and gaming with so many awesome folks a few months back. We have our own Convocation coming up the weekend after GenCon, and then SkalCon after that. The PFS system has introduced me to so many good friends.
I'm doing a bit of play-by-post as well, which is always great fun. Thanks for enabling and supporting this method of playing. (Now all I need is a Face-to-face group from the west coast, so that time zones match kids' bedtimes for a live game...)
Happy 4th of July, friends!

Let's see...why am I excited about Organized Play? Because I've only just realized that it scratches an itch that hadn't been scratched in awhile. See, ever since I was introduced to Pathfinder I've played in Adventure Paths - both here on the forums and with my home group. They're great! But sometimes I would catch myself thinking, "You know, sometimes I miss just being a bunch of roving do-gooders that put right a random wrong every other week and got to visit all sorts of different places." Organized Play scratches that itch for me :)
Other things I am excited about:
*I'm running my first game/scenario ever right here on the forums, having recently graduated from Hmm's GM 101 class! Not even the fact that I think everyone has played The Confirmation ten times over can dampen my excitement to be running it right now!
*The upcoming Gameday VI! I get to run more games for old friends and new faces alike :)
*Getting to actually sit on the same side of the table as my brother (who is normally GM for our home game) for some PFS goodness this Sunday!
*Hopefully being able to play my crazy Time Oracle in the upcoming Solstice Scar special during Gameday VI! One of the few games I'm actually signed up for as a player this time, too.

I enjoy PFS because:
* I normally GM a lot more than I play a PC, and PFS lets me get a better balance of the two.
* I get to play more characters, at a broader range of levels, than I would in an ongoing home campaign.
* I get to play with a different group of players than my long-time regular group. That helps me keep better connected with the larger gaming community.
* I get to see bits and pieces of PF content from very diverse sources that I haven't had an opportunity to use yet in my home game. That gives me ideas for things to use (or occasionally, avoid) in my own game.

I can't hear the titular song here without remembering Iowa State's dance for it.
Oh my gosh! Thanks for sharing that! I love watching people unabashedly proclaiming their joyous nerdom to the world! They make me want to join right in! Do we have anyone at PaizoCon who can film stuff? It would be awesome to do something ridiculous like this for an afternoon event.
PaizoCon, the musical. We could make it happen.
Hmm

I'm happily looking forward to our big annual convention - Ropecon at the end of July. It's always fun to see people I only get to play with a few times a year, and we always end up running some goofy midnight games that create stories for years to come (last year's gave us such gems as "that is the cheapest pounce I have ever seen" and "I drop my cat down the chimney and roll Handle Animal until he comes to open the door for us").

I'm looking forward to Summer WolfCon this weekend. Technically, it starts today, but I'm at work.
I'll be doing all 5 PFS sessions on Saturday and Sunday, though. I'll be GMing twice and playing three times. I normally wouldn't schedule that many, since I like having some breaks instead of exhausting myself with nonstop play. But I requested a few things on the schedule, and the organizer put them all on for me, instead of just a few like I expected, so I feel obligated to show up for all of them.
Besides just the games, there are a couple of people I haven't seen since Gen Con last year who will be there, so it'll be good to see them in person and play with them again.
Speaking of which, I'm also looking forward to Gen Con, but not as excited as usual. I think it might be too big this year. I hear they actually sold out of 4 day passes. And I had a hell of a time trying to get a hotel within walking distance (and eventually gave up - we'll be squeezing extra people into a room). I've been complaining for a couple of years that I think Gen Con has outgrown Indianapolis, and this year seems like it could be significantly more crowded than it has been.
I'm sure I'll still have fun, but I expect some frustrations at Gen Con this year, such as long lines at restaurants, insanely crowded hallways (as opposed to the normal levels of crowded), etc.
