So I am not sure how the casting time on this spell works.

It says "1 round" so is that the same as a full-round action? and when does the Summoned Monster appear?

weird as that's not how full round actions normally work, normally it just eats your standard and move action to do and its all happens on your turn and allows you to do free actions and what not still

That's why it takes 1 round to cast instead of a full-round action.

It's not, but that is how a 1 Full Round Casting Time works. You spend the entire Full Round Action casting the spell, and then it appears just before your next turn.

What Gauss quoted above is true, but it's a little misleading.

When you begin a spell that takes 1 round or longer to cast, you must continue the concentration from the current round to just before your turn in the next round (at least). If you lose concentration before the casting is complete, you lose the spell.

That is to say that yes, you do have to spend a Full Round Action for that Round, but the actual Casting Time is the Entire Round, not just your portion of the Full Round Action, if that makes sense. That is to say, on your turn you begin casting the spell. You are actively casting a 1 Round Casting Time Spell all the way up until just before your action in the next round, at which point that spell is complete and actually comes into affect.

you can also take a standard action in your 1st turn and a 2nd standard action in the 2nd turn if you want to move in your 1st turn
