Help with Fire Affinity, Ifrit ability?

Rules Questions

Fire Affinity: Ifrit sorcerers with the elemental (fire) bloodline treat their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer spells and class abilities. Ifrit spellcasters with the Fire domain use their domain powers and spells at +1 caster level.

Would that +1 effect a "snowball", changed by my elemental bloodline to fire?

A friend of mine told me yes, but this is my first attempt at spellcaster in general! Thanks in advance!

Yes, the +2 charisma effects all spells, even those that have nothing to do with fire.

Silver Crusade

No, because Snowball isn't a Fire domain spell or power.

Your friend is mistaken.

This has two functions.

The first is that if you are an Ifrit sorcerer, and you have the Elemental (fire) bloodline, your Charisma score is treated as 2 higher for sorcerer spells and class abilities. This includes increasing the DC of sorcerer spells you cast, giving you one more use a day of your Elemental Ray bloodline power, and increasing the DC of your Elemental Blast bloodline power.

The second is that if you are an Ifrit character which has the Fire domain (such as due to being a cleric and worshipping a deity that provides said domain), you treat your level as 1 higher for the purposes of either your domain powers or your domain spells. This means your Fire Bolt domain power increases in damage slightly faster, your Fire Resistance domain power increases in potency slightly faster, and you cast the domain spells (such as burning hands or fireball) at +1 caster level (which impacts not only damage dealt, but also concentration checks and spell resistance checks).

It doesn't do anything wholesale to spells with the [fire] descriptor.

I'm specifically asking about the +1 to all domain powers and spells. Or would that only affect things like scorching ray?

Okay! Thanks. This clears it up for me.

You might be slightly misreading it. It does not mean [domain powers] and [spells], it means domain [powers and spells].

Fire Domain wrote:
Domain Spells: 1st—burning hands, 2nd—produce flame, 3rd—fireball, 4th—wall of fire, 5th—fire shield, 6th—fire seeds, 7th—elemental body IV (fire only), 8th—incendiary cloud, 9th—elemental swarm (fire spell only).

You are limited only to these spells when considering what spells you can cast at +1 caster level. And, it should be noted, this only applies if you actually are a cleric (or other domain-gaining class) and have selected the Fire Domain. (One of its subdomains should also apply, which will slightly alter the list of spells you can apply the +1 caster level to.)

Silver Crusade

@ Captain Collateral Damage, he's specifically asking about the +1 caster level for the Fire domain, which Snowball doesn't fall under. You are right about the Charisma, he does get that.

Your post is a bit confusing, as if you are combining two features together. Two things here.

If you are a Sorcerer with the Elemental (Fire) Bloodline, you treat your CHA as 2 higher for ALL sorcerer spells and class abilities. So snowball would be affected if your sorcerer knows it. It's also notable that if you have a crossblooded sorcerer with 1 of the bloodlines being Elemental (Fire) that both bloodlines will function at +2 CHA due to the wording.

Second, if you are a spellcaster with the Fire Domain, treat your Domain Powers and spells as if you were +1 caster level. This ability is independent of the other ability. So if your spellcaster is a cleric with the fire domain, Snowball would not be affected because it is not a fire domain spell.
