Hello! I am attempting to convert an adventure found in an old issue of Dungeon Magazine to a Pathfinder adventure, most of it is going well, however I am not sure how to convert over timing in regards to some areas of the adventure.
For example...
"There is a 1 in 8 chance of an encounter, checked every turn."
Or
"There is a chance the PC's might sink the ship, check every hour."
How often would you suggest I check for an encounter? or for the sinking of a ship, would you just 'wing it'. I am more worried about the encounter timing as it is important to the adventure.
Any help would be most welcome. Thank you.

Time is measured the same is pathfinder and D&D. There is no need for conversion.
If you want to follow the suggestions of your source material do as instructed.
If you feel that it will be less fun to be hit with encounters left, right, and center or that sinking the ship will be a chore, check less often or not at all.

Uhm.. time is NOT measured the same in every version of D&D, so it matters what version you're converting from.
TURN specifically is 10 minutes (used primarily between combats as a middle-range unit of measure between rounds and hours while exploring); in older versions, 1 round is 10 seconds (AD&D 1st Ed), 1 minute (AD&D 2nd Ed), or approximately 6 seconds (D&D 3.x, Pathfinder).
