Furious Finish and Amulet of Quaking Strikes

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

Furious Finish
Amulet of Quaking Strikes

Can these two things be combined?

Sovereign Court

It seems that way, yes. AoQS specifically calls out Vital Strike, and Furious Finish isn't in the list of things AoQS excludes; it's more like putting down all your dice with maximum side up.

Scarab Sages

OK. Combine this with enlarge person, an impact weapon, and, if you want, the Titan Mauler/Titan Fighter to get some surprising damage. It is like a martial-based fireball. =)

Good find. My furious finisher will love this.

So hey, this is nasty at high-level. Use something like miracle to declare the next attack a threat. Then confirm against AC 10. Administer damage to everyone in the radius. For bonus fun, use critical feats.

Scarab Sages

Now here is some ideas for how to use this:

- Use a Bloodrager with the Abyssal Bloodline. This lets you enlarge yourself as part of your bloodrage (even if you are not humanoid). Moreover, you increase your morale bonus to Strength at higher levels.

- Find a way to cast True Strike (Bloodragers learn this spell). This will let you ignore concealment and Mirror Images with a huge bonus to your attack roll.

- Add Devastating Strike (and Arcane Strike/Blooded Arcane Strike for Bloodragers) to the mix. Extra damage is always nice.

With Power Attack at Level 12, Improved Vital Strike, Devistating Strike, Bloodied Arcane Strike, a +1 Impact Greatsword with a level in Titan Fighter, you have your damage at:

108 - (6d6)x3 - Improved Vital Strike w/ Furious Finish
STR x1.5 - Weapon wielded with two hands
12 - 3x4 - Power Attack (BAB +12)
6 - 2x3 - Blooded Arcane Strike
4 - 2x2 - Devastating Strike
1 - +1 Impact Greatsword

Total:
131 + (STR x1.5)

I missed that the attack roll is applied to all creatures within the area... I was just catching that you attack the ground, which would be AC 10. Still... this is great because - for instance - you don't have to worry about mirror image. The amulet makes it clear the attack roll is applied to all creatures, so it won't apply to the images. It's just like the FAQ about magic missile and mirror image... it just hits the target, automatically.

Amusingly, this works for invisible creatures. I don't see why there'd be a 50% miss chance. With that logic, concealment, and likely cover won't apply either.

While not cheap, this amulet is good.

I don't think you're aiming for the ground's AC;

Quote:
The wearer can choose a point of origin within 100 feet of himself and apply his attack roll against all creatures within a 20-foot radius of that point.

It does make sense that it'd bypass Mirror Image since it's a kind of area attack, but I don't think it strictly does, because it's still a to-hit roll.

I question whether the +1 enchantment or the Impact enchantment will work as the item also specifically calls out " it doesn’t include damage from other magical sources, such as enhancement bonuses, spells, and magic weapon special abilities."

Scarab Sages

You are correct. I had skimmed over that part. So with that, you can obtain up to 72 (4d6 x3) before feats.
