I had always assumed that a double barrel firearm would require the barrels to be enchanted separately, much like both ends of a double weapon.
This seamed pretty obvious to me. But, I've run into quite a few people lately that disagree with that opinion. I decided to check out the boards, and found surprisingly little. What I did find was far from conclusive.
So, is there a general consensus on how this works? Are each barrel of a double weapon enchanted separately?
For that matter, what about masterwork. Do you pay twice the masterwork cost?
On a related note, if you misfire with one barrel of a double barrel weapon, does it foul both barrels?

Yep, they are a single weapon, so any masterwork quality, magical enchantment, spell, and misfire, effects the entire weapon.
In case you don't know, the Ultimate Combat errata and the subsequent FAQ have changed double barrel firearms from "lol, double your damage, u mad bro?" to "each barrel can be shot independently as separate attacks, or both can be fired at once as a standard action (the attack action)".
