Wishcrafter Spell Selection

Advice

I'm going to make a Wishcrafter ifrit sorcerer, and would like some ideas about what spells to pick over her career to best take advantage of the Wishbound Arcana ability.

Wishbound Arcana wrote:
At 1st level, the wishcrafter can use the wishes of non-genie creatures other than herself in place of the normal verbal components of her spells. A creature can make a wish as a free action at any time, even during the wishcrafter’s turn. The wishcrafter must be able to hear and understand a wish in order to use it as a spell component. A spell that doesn’t normally have a verbal component gains one when cast using this ability. A wish doesn’t need to mention the name of a specific spell, but must describe an outcome that can be accomplished by casting a spell the wishcrafter knows (for example, wishing to be bigger could supply the verbal component for enlarge person). A wishcrafter gains a +1 bonus to her caster level when using a creature’s wish as a verbal component in this manner, but cannot include herself as a target of such spells. She can be affected by such a spell if it affects an area rather than a target or targets. A wishcrafter is under no compulsion to grant a creature’s wish. Once the wishcrafter grants a creature’s wish using this ability, she cannot use this ability to grant that creature any further wishes for 24 hours.

I'm looking for spells that:

•Are flexible in application, so that they could be used to grant a variety of wishes;
•Do not target the caster; and
•Scale well with caster level.

Please share your suggestions with me.

First thing's first, make sure you take a Bloodline Familiar to delay your bonus Sorcerer Spells. The fine text in the Wishcrafter's Expanded Wishcraft means that you will be taking a Cantrip at 3rd level, and will always be a level behind. Taking a Bloodline familiar offsets your Bonus Spells until 4th, 6th, 8th, etc allowing you free access to the way it was meant to be. It also has a side effect of allowing your Familiar to Wish once per day as well, if it can speak.

That being said, as someone who played a Wishcrafter, you can pretty much do anything as long as you twist the words properly.

Spoiler:

"I wish it was brighter in here!"
Result: Fireball

"I wish this fire would be put out!"
Result: Aqueous Orb

"I wish I could fly!"
Result: Baleful Polymorph into a Chicken.

"I wish I would live forever!"
Result: Flesh to Stone

"I wish I had love."
Result: Unnatural Lust

"I wish I could retreat!"
Result: Plane Shift

"I wish I was stronger."
Result: Vengeful Outrage against his ally.

"I wish to be braver."
Result: Suggestion

"I wish you would be quiet!"
Result: Deafness

"I wish you all disappear!"
Result: Blindness

"I wish everything would be back to normal!"
Result: Greater Dispel Magic

"I wish you would leave me alone!"
Result: Invisibility Sphere

"I wish my deity would come help."
Result: Summon Monster VI/VII

"I wish I could see my mother one last time."
Result: Finger of Death

"I wish I was rich!"
Result: Diamond Spray

"I wish I was faster!"
Result: Haste

In addition, the Shadow line of spells will give you a huge amount of versatility in a Standard Action; and are highly recommended. Down the road, Limited Wish (while expensive) would be optimal.

Its not so much about what the spell offers, but who will Wish for it. Eventually you're going to want enemies to make wishes so that they can be Twisted, which changes your spell selection. What I would recommend is that you choose some spells that you can safely cast with Allies, and some spells you can hopefully use Heart's Desire to fish out. Basically divide your spells into Ally and Enemy spells.

I would save the Expanded Wishcraft spells for Allied spells (Haste, Bull's Strength, Heroism, etc), as you can guarantee they will choose them when needed, because you have no guarantee that your opponents will.

Thanks. I particularly appreciate the Bloodline Familiar suggestion.

I'm still looking for spells that scale well with caster level and don't affect the caster. I mean, blasts, sure, but anything else?

Spells like Break Enchantment, Dispel Magic, Remove Curse are all valuable to be wished for (and the extra Caster level helps), Wall spells (Fire, Ice, Force), Knock, Hold Portal, Communal Spells such as Phantom Steed, Water Breathing Pro-Arrows, Energy Resistance (due to the duration spreading out), early Rope Trick, etc. I also like Resilient Sphere as it serves double duty and the extra CL makes for a harder Sphere to shatter. Bestow Curse has flexibility too (or Major Curse if you don't want to sit in touch range).

You can also use something like Marionette Possession to give an ally Personal Spells if you really want.

The Exchange

As a wishcrafter, nothing has been more effective for the 13th level twisted wish feature (-4 on saves if they asked for it) than bestow curse. In fact, bestow curse probably saw more use with that than all other spells combined. It requires creative applications of their wish or desire. For example:

Me: "Can't we talk this over? I'm a merchant, what do you want?"

Monster: "I want to eat all of you."

Me: "Your wish is my command." (bestow curse, -4 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks from intense bloating as if its gullet was simultaneously crammed with the entire party's mass)

Baleful Polymorph
Create Mindscape/Greater
Dazling Blade Mass
Possession

Also pick up any buffs that scale well with caster level. Allies can make wishes as well :)

Unfortunately you can't do this. The wishcrafter doesn't have bloodline spells to stagger, they have "Expanded Wishcraft". You need to have both a first level bloodline power and bloodline spells in order to trade in for the bloodline familiar. The archetypes creator wrote in a response that you should just ask your DM to let you take a first level spell as your level 3 expanded arcana.
