So how exactly do you strangle someone without any special items, feats or abilities?
The Aerial Servant has the smother ability, which hastens suffocation, but it relies on the victim having to hold its breath. Constrict, grab, and grapple, are silent on suffocation, as are Air and Elemental subtypes. CRB suffocation rules are silent on ways to cause it.
So how would an Aerial Servant, in a normal room, with lots of free PC air, get this ability to work.

You realize you're asking "How do I do X without picking up anything to let me to do X" right?
You can choke someone out, but it requires feats or specific classes/archetypes.
Barring this, about the only way to otherwise strangle someone is to put them underwater.
Basically it's a worthless ability and you should just ignore it.

Yeah i kinda realize this. So this monster has a useless/cool ability and the fluff text means nothing?
Fluff: "They typically scatter enemies with blasts of wind before closing in to strangle their prey."
I thought i was missing something. It seems to be missing levels in Brawler (strangler)!

Looking into monster abilities further. Engulf (Ex), probably causes suffocation. Swallow Whole (Ex) might, and weirdly Strangle (Ex) doesn't.
Smother showed up in Bestiary 4, only the Mudlord has it as part of engulf. The Lurking Rays have their own version, as does the Living Scroll from B5.
I may re-word it similar to the Lurking Rays, the Aerial Servant is higher CR anyway.
