Do the lockpicks from the Vest of Escape grant a MW bonus?

The Vest of Escape (which can be found if you search on http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateEquipment/wondrousItems/chest.ht ml) grant a +6 to Escape Artist and includes a set of lockpicks that grant a +4 competence bonus to Disable Device.

My question: do these lockpicks also grant the +2 circumstance bonus for being Masterwork Tools (like how magical armor and weapons must be masterwork first) or the equivalent thereof?


Nope. Only armor & weapons have that prereq. Anything else is only mwk if specified as such explicitly.


Any idea why they went with +4 for Disable Device and +6 for Escape Artist, then? I'm not complaining either way, just curious.


Because combining the vest with Masterwork thieve's tools makes it a +6 to match the other +6?

Maybe they'd just had a fortune cookie telling them their lucky numbers were 4 and 6? Frankly I doubt there's a much better reason than that. "It felt right."

Which would have been my original reason for asking if the +2 applied.

Not sure how they figured the Escape Artist bonus, but the Disable Device bonus is the Caster Level of the item, per knock.
