Magic Missile Damage Calculation

Rules Questions

How does magic missile interact with Energy Resistance/Bonus Damage?

Is the damage totalled and then added/subtracted, or do damage modifications apply to each missile?

Very few creatures have force damage resistance, so it is unlikely to come up.

When it does (say for Scorching ray) you apply resistance to each attack/ray.

...each attack/ray/missile.

Their is a wizard that has an additional damage to each missile, so each one is 1d4+2. Empower would effect each missile separately.

Not clear. Scorching Ray uses a separate attack roll for each ray. Toppling spell only applies once per target, no matter how many missiles you hit with rather than for each missile, so it may be that multiple missiles count as a single 'attack' for purposes of damage reduction.

Most of the time, it probably won't matter, but hardness would apply vs. magic missile force damage.
