Does Saltpeter work with Fire Bolt?

Rules Questions

This is a pretty specific question. I have looked through many posts looking for for anything which would be a definite yes or no and couldn't find anything.
Can you use Saltpeter (An alchemical regent) to give a +1 damage to the Fire Bolt spell-like ability which you get through the Clerics Fire Domain?

Thanks for any info anyone can give me on this.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would personally rule that no, you could not, simply because by and large Spell-like abilities do not use material components and reagents are used as material components to a spell.

No. SLA do not have components. "A spell-like ability has no verbal, somatic, or material component, nor does it require a focus." As such, here is nowhere to add an optional one.

yeah... ^^^ it's a no go on using power components with SLAs.

Thanks for the info guys.
