Giving a Cavalier a Dancing Lance... good idea or game breaking?

Advice

So I'm running my first campaign and one of my players is playing a cavalier. As a reward for a side mission focusing on his character storyline, I want to give him a dancing lance so when he charges he could have the floating AND held lance to wreck some poor soul.

I just want some thoughts from more experienced players to see whether they think this is a good idea.

It's probably not going to be too over powered. It uses his BAB to fight with (but none of his other bonuses) and moves with him and... that's about it. It doesn't look like it allows the weapon to make use of any of his feats (so no spirited charge or anything like that) and there are usually limited opportunities to charge after initial contact with enemies.

It is, however, a +4 equivalent enchantment and that's pretty valuable (the weapon's got to be at least 50,000 gp). If he decides the dancing lance just isn't as effective as he'd like, are you prepared to see him sell it for a pretty big chunk of change?

Oh yeah if he doesn't want it he can do as he wants in terms of selling it. I was unclear about the feats side for RAW as well as other bonuses like strength included in damage.
