Maybe there was some criticism in there. >_> Again, I didn't mean to imply I dislike what they've done, just wondering aloud if it could've taken into a different direction.

To be fair, the Flame mystery is the one with probably the coolest tricks up its sleeve, and has great general use. Though maybe that's more of an issue with the other mysteries, but that's beside the point.

I have no idea how pregens are made, but maybe it's just story issues. The pregens are used in comics and stories as far as I know, and I don't know which influences which. Maybe the designers just think of cool character builds and say to the story people "here you go, have fun." But maybe the story people need a certain character and they pester the design people about it.
EDIT: Thanks to me typing for so long, this has already been answered.

Anyway, yeah, they could've taken her in other directions. Flavourwise, a fever that literally burns everyone around her does make for a good Fire mystery, and Water wouldn't really have made sense in Rahadoum. But that's just excusing flavour reasons, they could've made her come from Andoran and fix the flavour issue.
Battle wouldn't have been a great fit, as there are already a lot of melee-focused characters, I guess they want her to be more supporty/blasty. Lore would have indeed been a great choice, and fun roleplay. Rock would've also worked great, but maybe more for a Dwarf. Waves and Wind both looks great as well.

I mentioned it earlier, but I think if the iconics were to be remade, I'd have Kyra switch domains. I think the Oracle works best as-is. Kyra can stay a Sarenrite if that's important to the story, but switching Sun out for Glory would've differentiated her a lot already. I'd like to think Paizo staff had a "well, crap"-moment when they designed the Oracle pregen and realised how they'd painted themselves in a corner, but they couldn't retroactively change her.

About the Kinteticist: Yeah, Fire's sort of the go-to element for iconicity, so I don't fault them for that, but the other elements have so many interesting uses. Earth is nice and defensive, Aether has a lot of utlity, and so on. Fire just seems to blast more. I mean, I'm sure people like that as well, but to me it seems like they could've done more with it.

Rosc, when we're running quests at Anime Detour, we totally have to run one together with TEAM FIRE. Kyra, the "Oracle Whose Name I Cannot Remember (TM)" and Yoon. All the fire! All of it! It'll be a literal blast.*

Hooray for fevered writing! That's what I'm doing right now.

Alchemist has fire bombs, of course. Seoni has Burning Hands, but that won't fill an entire scenario. Ezren has some nice fire spells across all spell levels: Burning Hands, Scorching Ray, and Fireball. He's quite a blaster. And Lini has one Flaming Sphere. So you could make quite a pyro party. :)

I suspect that the kineticist was pretty much always going to be fire-element. The trope of the "fire-starter" is in many ways the root of the class, especially from an occult perspective, and telekineticist (the only other "element" that can really contest that claim) would have blended in with a lot of the other occult iconics.

I suppose it's just a shame that it followed an already thoroughly-represented elemental theme.

While I understand the selection process can be tricky, I do think Paizo missed a great opportunity in not making the iconic i to Aether. Out of the "core" elements, that one has the most to offer in terms of standing out from the pack. Not only is it the best way to play the Telekinesis fantasy, but Foe Throw is a fantastic pseudocapstone at 7th

Then again, I love Yoon and I wouldn't change a thing about her. Mostlly. Heck, I'd play her 1-12 if I could.

I am so down for this. Looking foward to Fire Elementals making us weep, haha.

♫ Silverhex started it; with random quests we hearted it
Phantom Phenomena with occult memes
Harrow, Lightning, Manor so fright'ning
Spooky plants, spooky dreams, spooky spooky screams
Honor's Echo led the day; 'Grove' blew us all away!
The newest quests in line: a tea house brawl so fine
It's a big Wuxia spoof with martial battles on the roof
Now let's blaze through their design, led by the team divine

We didn't start the fire
It's been always burning
Since pregens's been churning
We didn't start the fire
Okay... maybe we tried to light it
Why try to fight it? ♫

I would have loved some more diversity for kineticist and oracle pregens.

That is what I really appreciate about the PFS specific pregens. They just decided to go completely wild and random with their choices here resulting in a better Mesmerist and Oracle than the iconics. Admittedly, the Mesmerist is just cool because of who she is which is a reference that Im entirely surprised they made.

Late to the party: We have a lot of new to pathfinder players, so the pregens that get used tend to match classic archetypes or be mechanically approachable. Amiri, Seelah, Merisiel, Reiko.

And when we have a table of 3, it tends to by Seelah or Kyra. They are easy for someone to multitask and have diplomacy.
