Breaking a hypnotic command

Rules Questions

Let's say someone used the hypnosis spell for something simple, a la Star Wars "These are not the droids you're looking for."

If another member of the spelled person's party were to point out that they are, in fact, the droids they're looking for, what would it take to snap their bespelled teammate out of the hypnotism?

Many thanks in advance.

well - read the spell again.
The caster has 2d4 rounds of fascination with a target's failed will save. You don't even need to make a suggestion.
The spell adjusts a creature's attitude, so it's reaction roll, for that particular request. After the casting the attitude can change with time and other interactions.
Memory Lapse, Invisibility, or Hidden Presence might be better.

Thank you for the response. So if another party member pointed out that they are the droids they're looking for, would the fascinated party member have to make another will save or would this new information be a second attitude adjustment, so to speak, and essentially end the fascination?

A fascinated creature is entranced by a supernatural or spell effect. The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature’s ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.

so those guys in the background slipping by aren't hostile, right?...

Bless you, that's exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.

casting a spell is generally considered a hostile action, so getting it off can be tricky especially if the targets make their saves.

I'd suggest Illusion of Calm(out of sight), then Hypnotism, and then Memory Lapse.

Liberty's Edge

Remember hypnotism kind of includes memory lapse.
Last line of hypnotism "A creature that fails its saving throw does not remember that you enspelled it." People naturally make up motivations to fit actions they have performed; see research performed on people that have had split brain surgery.

Since the target retains his attitude to the action I could see the target responding to someone pointing out that those are the droids you are looking for, with "I checked them out, they just look like it."
