Newbie here. My local gaming con always has a bunch of Pathfinder Society sessions, so I thought I'd dip a toe in the water this year. I'm trying to create a character with the online documentation, but I got stuck here:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/coreRulebook/usingSkills.html#chapter-4
The number of skill ranks my wizard character has available at level 1 is "2 + Int modifier". Okay, but what's the Int modifier?? The table just links back to the basic definition of Intelligence. I've been back and forth through the documentation. tried the search, and can't find anything explaining how to calculate the modifier.

It is the same as all other ability modifiers. If your Intelligence is 10, you have a +0 Int modifier. IF your Intelligence is 18, you have a +4 Int modifier.
When you click the link and it takes you to the definition of Intelligence, scroll up a bit to the chart. IT is actually labeled "Bonus Spells per Day", but also has the ability score modifiers in it as well.

Ability modifiers can be found on this table.
So if you have a 16 intelligence, that gives a +3 modifier for a total of 5 skill ranks for you wizard.

Ahh, thanks! It really wasn't clear that it applied to anything other than spellcasting.
