Occultists. Can they use one item for multiple schools?

Rules Questions

For the Occultist, can one item count for multiple implement schools if it qualifies for them?

For example, the Abjuration school can be used with a shield. The Transmutation school can be used with a weapon. Since a shield is a weapon, can I pick a single shield to be the implement for both schools at once?

I think that unless you're a battle host, one item becomes an implement for one implement school. Though I believe because a shield is for all purposes a weapon you could have two; one shield as an abjuration implement and one as a transmutation.

(also, if this is for psychic anthology panoplies they would need to be separate items anyway. Not sure if that's what you had in mind.)

Is there any text somewhere that says you have to pick a different item each time? For regular Occultist stuff, or the panoplies?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

The occultist needs only one such item to cast spells of the corresponding school, unless he selected that implement schools multiple times, in which case he needs one item for each set of spells gained from that school

The fact that you need 2 items if you selected a school twice strongly suggests that you cannot use the same item for multiple schools unless you are a battle host.

That makes sense. Thanks.
