then what is offered by D20pfsrd.com. it's my only source of information. first off the Astral Plane how bloody dangerous is it? my DM says it is very dangerous and not to be used. i only think he does not want me to use it as i might use it as a way to escape his Cthulhu based Conan hell realm. not really hell but not fun to play in.

This book would be your best bet; was written for 3.5 but all the flavor still applies for PFRPG since the campaign setting is still the same. The GMG has more information about the other planes, including a bit of crunch. In the normal Inner Sea campaign setting, there is nothing inherently dangerous about the astral plane, however your GM is free to change the setting to however he likes. If he says it rips your soul out of your body if you stay for longer than 10 rounds, then it does that.

Bolding mine, and the sole arbiter of how dangerous the Astral Plane is. Other planes are just like the material plane. Encounters can be random. If the GM wants it to be super dangerous, it is (lots of super dangerous stuff lives on other planes). The only thing that changes about other planes is trivial details like time, gravity, things like that.
