Energy Drain...which one?

Rules Questions

My party just encountered the Frost Wight in RotRL. Two of the PCs took some energy drain.
Which energy drain is the right one? The one from the core rulebook or the one from the bestiary? I feel like the Bestiary should be the right one, but how have other people settled this?
Thanks!

your 2 players now have some negative levels in 24 hours they need to make a save for each level if they fail the negative level is permenent the dc for this creatures negative level removal is 14(10+half creatures racial(2) + cha modifyer(2)) asumming its a normal frost wight and nothing was changed. remember tho for each negative level the player takes a -1 penalty to attacks, combat manuvers, combat manuver defence, saving throws and skill checks as well as -5 hit points. so they will have penalties to removing the negative level on their own

Tbe CRB gives the basic, general rules for energy drain. The bestiary rules are the specifics for the monster ability. So, for the effects of the monster's usage of the energy drain special attack, use the beztiary rules, when a necromancer casts enervation, use the CRB rules.
