Building an undead dragon

How should I go about this? I'm trying to create an undead dragon and I know for sure there will be a lynch there to control the dragon and make it be undead. I'm sure not entirely sure how to go about stats.

ok gimi a little bit and ill see what i can throw together


got most of the basics done just need to go in and do the math and adjust some numbers here and there to make it more of a cr 12 creature

the attack calculations are if the dragon is not power attacking may need to lose 1-2 hit die just to make it a little closer to the monster creation guides cr 12 creature but as a dragon i think it should be fine

Simple... you take a base dragon's stats, and apply the template cooresponding to the type of undead you want, skeletal, ghoulish, vampiric, lich, spectre, etc. The template will add a given CR to the dragon.

So decide on the CR of the encounter, choose the template and see how much it adds to it. than for your base dragon, choose one with CR-X, X being the template's CR value.
