Fox Shape:
You can change into a fox in addition to your other forms.
Prerequisites: Cha 13, base attack bonus +3, kitsune.
Special: A kitsune may select this feat any time she would gain a feat.
So the "special" thing is telling me that a kitsune can select this feat when she gains a feat. Who would've thought? What's the point of this or is there something I'm not getting here?

I see no such line in the feat.
You can change into a fox in addition to your other forms.
Prerequisites: Cha 13, base attack bonus +3, kitsune.
Benefit: You can take the form of a fox (Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 3 112) whose appearance is static and cannot be changed each time you assume this form. Your bite attack’s damage is reduced to 1d3 points of damage on a hit, but you gain a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks made to appear as a fox. Changing from kitsune to fox shape is a standard action. This ability otherwise functions as beast shape II, and your ability scores change accordingly.
What is your source?
Edit: I found the line, it is in the sidebar header.
Bonus Kitsune Feats
A kitsune may select from the following feats any time she would gain a feat.

It is listed that was on d20PFSRD. But the formatting is wrong - the Special entry always comes after the Benefit entry. So something is wrong.

It might just be on there, I'll check my book when I get home, maybe it's a bit from a third party thing or something

If you got it in d20pfsrd, that isn't in the feat, in the book, or valid.
Read the feat in archive of nethys or ask the maintainer of d20pfsrd to fix it. He has been informed of the issue and has declined to fix it.

It is in the book though, as Gauss pointed out. Not formatted like on d20pfsrd, but still there.

An unoriginal box with boring line about some bonus content, some feats that kitsune might want in the section about kitsunes.
If you look at the book you can see it is "here is some crunch with the lore" and not some special rule.
There have been dozens if not a hundred threads asking this question and d20pfsrd still won't correct their error.

I like Archives of Nethys for option shopping.
Just go to the search, type in a theme such as "fire" or "combat maneuver defense" and suddenly you have anything and everything related to your theme at your finger tips.

My guess is that it's supposed to clarify that you don't have to take it at level 1; some racial feats have a caveat saying "you must take this at level 1" or the equivalent.
I agree it's mostly pointless.

No, it is not in the book in the feat. It is in the book as a general header for the entire sidebar of feats. It was never intended to be part of the feat and d20pfsrd should not be including it in the formatting of the feat.

Except given that d20pfsrd's format, which puts each feat on its own separate page, it does become necessary to put relevant header information in with the actual feat.

When I look at that box in the book, I see it as it would look awkward if there were nothing in the box except the feats.

But that info isn't relevant.
