So I've made my character, and I'm going to play it, but I've recently been pondering if there are any builds towards hiding as inanimate objects to set up surprise attacks and vanishing acts. If it's doable, I'd love to incorporate this into my swashtigator build I've worked on; Thanks to all of those who helped me figure it out.
I know this screams "mimic", but I'd love to learn what you guys know about this subject, because I think it'd be a nifty trick for a rat to pull off. Note; I'd like to avoid using 3rd party material if at all possible.

Tree Shape and Meld into Stone might suit you. Not especially easy for an investigator to get though. Similarly (but worse) for Veil, Possess Object & Object Possession (lesser, standard, greater).
A breastplate of vanishing lets you hide in an extradimensional space inside the armor, I think there's another item or two which behaves similarly.

D&D 3.x has such but not in PF to my knowledge.
Monstrous Physique II or higher (which an investigator can get) allows you to get the freeze ability, and so do the gargoyle-impersonating-a-statue bit. Undead Anatomy II+ & taking the form of phantom armor does the same if you want to do similarly with a suit of armor.
