Boon Companion / Phantom Ally and new abilities?

Rules Questions

So when you take the Boom Companion and/or Phantom Ally Feats, you treat your Animal Companion / Familiar / Phantom as though it was +4 Levels higher in terms of it's abilities. Does this mean it gains all the abilities listed at those higher levels or does it simply treat the abilities it already has as being +4 levels higher? Example: Can a 4th level Druid's Animal Companion gain the Devotion ability with this feat? Can a 10th Level Wizard's Familiar gain Spell Resistance and Scry on Familiar?

If the ability is listed in the companion table he certainly gets it

They do gain those abilities (that's part of the point), but keep in mind those feats are capped at your character level. So a Wizard 10 can't Boon Companion his familiar to 14; but a Wizard 10/Rogue 4 could.
