Sorcerer Items

Advice

Dark Archive

So there are a few of these pages out and about but as far as I see they are always, "Best Items" or "Favorite Items" and the fault of that is often they have only a handful of items mentioned as they are clearly useful. What I would like to do is not only get some of those items listed but as well I'd like to get and entire sorcerer gear list set up, in place of the typical. "buy some rods and a cloak of resist."

Spoiler:

Armor:
Belts: Belt of dex/con
Body: Robes of arcane heritage, Sorceror's robes, Flaming/Shocking/Voidfrost robes
Chest: All tools vest, Tunic of Careful casting
Eyes: eyes of the eagle, goggles of elvenkind, goggles of night
Feet:
Hands: glove of storing
Head: circlet of persuasion
Headband: Chr headband
Neck: Amulet of natural armor
Ring (up to two): Ring of evasion, ring of invisibility, ring of protection, ring of wizardry, ring of freedom of movement
Shield: None?
Shoulders: Cloak of resistance
Wrists: sleeve of many garments, spellgaurd bracers, bracers of armor+5
Slotless: Rods, ioun stones, handy haversack/bag of holding,

If you can think of anything else to add to this list that would be great. It is true that casters are nowhere near as item dependent as other classes, but you have the slots, might as well get something.

If you're a sorcerer, your #2 buy (after a headband of CHA) is pages of spell knowledge, and... more pages of spell knowledge.

YMMV.

If you want to save some money, consider Mnemonic Vestments and a bunch of scrolls and/or spellbooks.

mithril buckler +3 or higher

Aside from choosing charisma items over intelligence, there really isn't that much a sorcerer would get that a wizard would not.

Consider a ring of sustenance if you get attacked at night often or if you do some crafting on the road.

A mithral buckler is fairly common. Silken ceremonial armor or similar no-ASF armor too - +1 spell storing especially. Less commonly, a cestus with some useful property, like guardian or maybe now training.

Boots of Escape may be good for some, I got a pair for my gnome sorcerer.

Dweomer's Essence is a slotless expendable you may want.

Note that this is mostly for highish level play as level 20 goes to some very expensive items, low level play can't afford them, and mid-level there are just a few items you want above all others.

Pages of Spell Knowledge and Headband of Charisma.

Also, if you are a human then your favor class bonus should be for one additional spell known from the sorcerer spell list that is at least one level below the highest level your sorcerer can cast. This is from the Advanced Player's Guide and will be much more useful than an extra hit point or skill, in my experience.

They are for sure very similar, and this list is arguably true for non armored full casters. However I limited to sorcerer as there are items that are specifically Wizard or Sorcerer.
