Loved the book as a kid and the animated film as well. He will be missed.

2016 please stop. Just stop.

:(

Seriously? Ugh. I just can't even.

Weirdly, I was just wondering the day before yesterday if he were still alive, and thought to myself that I'd best wait until 2017 to google the question.

(Context: Talking with my kids about the possibility of a Warriors movie, and telling them they really needed to read/watch Watership Down, instead.)

I have very strong memories of WD, because it was a book that I read aloud to my blind grandfather when I was 13. There are some very long, very boring descriptions of the English countryside, let me tell you. But the good parts of this book are amazing. (I was also very much reminded of it thematically watching Kubo of the Two Strings last night. Obviously it's time for a reread.)

Shardik is an equally good book that I highly recommend. Maia is...a book that I loved when it first came out but I suspect is *strongly* problematic today. I didn't like Plague Dogs at all.

He's with Lord Frith now. Hopefully enjoying sunlight and fresh air, with no elil in sight.

Sad news :(

There's a new WATERSHIP DOWN animated adaptation in production, between Netflix and the BBC. The voice cast consists of James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, John Boyega, Ben Kingsley, Olivia Colman, Ann-Marie Duff and Gemma Arterton, so it's pretty high-profile. Should be released at the end of 2017.

Liberty's Edge

Great book.

Great RPG (Bunnies and Burrows).

Sad day.

"All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed."

Thanks for everything, Mister Adams.

Black Rabbit has taken him to his side.

Watership Down was a central part of my childhood. I remember dad reading it to me on a boat vacation, I believe I was eight. It is harsh, violent, and deeply political, and yet I loved it. But the strongest part of the book is the mythological side of it.

Rest in peace, and thank you.
