Dry Quick Sand - huh?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hey guys,

That Dry Quick Sand elite barrier is pretty wacky. It reads...

"If undefeated, display this card next to your location and shuffle your token card into your location deck. When your token is returned to the location, banish this card."

We think this means that the trap sticks around in the deck around until the character token card is encountered or somone defeats it next time the barrier is drawn.

Are we interpreting it right?

Thanks for the wisdom +2,

The card is displayed next to the deck, so the barrier can't be encountered again to be defeated.

That said, if you can examine or encounter the token card in the deck, you solve the problem.

Question about the token in a location deck:
"While your token is in a location deck, you may
explore, encounter cards, and play cards; you cannot move, and
you must evade any banes you encounter."

Does the "must evade" actually give an evade power? Because I must evade, do I automatically "get" to evade?

Lone Shark Games

Yep. For good or ill, you're evading some banes. (It is possible, such as when encountering a Poison bane at the Thornscrub, that you won't be able to evade even when you try, though)

My fiancee thought, "I can evade banes? That's AWESOME!" Then she kept getting the same one over and over as she explored, evaded-and-shuffled-in, and explored some more. She was then enlightened.
