Advice

Quick question about armor enchantment costs: If I wanted to take +2 Full Plate and add Determination to it (Counts as a +5 bonus), which has a cost of +30,000 gold, does that mean I pay 30,000 flat for Determination added to the armor, or the cost of +7 armor (49,000 - 4,000 for the existing +2) PLUS the 30,000?

Upgrade it fully to +7, then apply the enhancement.
So effectively [cost of armor] + 150 [masterwork] + [cost of +7 upgrade], then you apply the enhancement.

So Determination being added is effectively a 75,000g cost if the armor is already +2?

Wait, what? No. Determination has a fixed cost. The +5 equivalent is just for ranking the power of various enchantments in a particular table, Determination actually doesn't have a +5 enchantment cost.

So, a +2 armor with Determination would be the cost of the masterwork armor +4000gp for the +2, and +30000gp for the Determination. The armor would be considered to have a +2 enchantment bonus for calculating further enchantment costs.

Ah, that's my bad. I didn't look to confirm that enhancement was a straight cost.

No problem. That +5 equivalent that shows up in those tables is confusing.

So you are saying an Armor can be a greater shadow, greater energy resistance, undead controlling +5 Armor. And still be at only +5 out of its max +10?

That is correct. Though you're essentially paying the *1.5 cost for both energy resistance and greater shadow already, so it's no different than adding those abilities to any other magic item.

Indeed it is. Thanks for for the clarification!
