Look in the various recruitment threads and read them.
It'll take time to get into a game and it may be a lot of time as GMs tend to;
prefer players who have some game/PBP experience,
GM knows the player,
or the player is vouched for by another known player.
Not to sound mean, but this may mean compromising on your requirements to get in the door.
As it took me a lot time to get started in PBP play.
If a GM opens a game for new players, apply with a character even if it requires tossing out your requirements and following the GM's requirements.
You need to get experience and known as a player first, before other GMs might start giving you a chance.
And asking for a game to join from a GM, while in a way demanding to take your requirements is a major put off for GMs.
As there are FEW GMs and HUNDREDS of players on these boards, when a recruitment thread is up, it is best that you adhere to the character creation rules.
Also being a one-trick pony in character building shows a few negative player traits that can be off-putting to GMs.
