There are quite a few good places within walking distance! I haven't had the chance to try them all, but I've liked the ones I've gone to, and heard (mostly) good things about the few I haven't tried.

Grand Lodge

That's good to know, Alayna!

Since it sounds like there are at least three (and possibly four?) tables of precon games going, do we need to set them up on Mahuba's Warhorn site, or at least list them here in this thread with the confirmed seating that we know about?

I'm not sure who is signing up for which party. So let's get this organized somehow.

WORAN'S FIVE STAR TABLE

Game: Pending, based on what pops out of the PFS Session Tracker

Confirmed players:
Hmm (149000)
BretI (149181)
Lawrence Smith 2 (?) -- The all-important VC

Do we know who else plans to take part?

____

RKNOP AFTERNOON GAME

Game:

Confirmed players:

____

WALTERO -- DOOOOOOOM!

Game: Doom Comes to Dustpawn, or something else awesome, given that is Waltero.

Confirmed players:

___

GARY PEPPER

Game: It's a mystery!

Confirmed players:

Am I missing anything? My experience with Doom Comes to Dustpawn is that it is awesome and takes 8-10 hours, but it would be great for those who want a lovely high tier game.

Maybe plan for something shortly after lunch? I don't know the area at all, this will be my first time at PaizoCon. Hopefully there is good food within walking distance.

Food wise to help...

Mom and Pop Diner is just across the road on the corner of the main intersection and is pretty decent. You then have a Denny's and Subway right across from the hotel along with some Hawaiian BBQ and Thai place that I personally have never tried but others seemed to enjoy what they got from them.

Liberty's Edge

Small correction -- Waltero said he wanted to run Doom Comes to Dustpawn.

I floated the idea of a 32-page module, but am leaning against it.

Indeed, part of me wants to play at Woran's 5-star table :) If I could GM a scenario in the afternoon, and then play at Woran's table, that'd be cool.

We should get these up on the Warhorn.

Grand Lodge

Fixed in my post. Better?

Hi, all!

Hmm said you're looking for a Venture-Captain to join the 5-Star GM session. My schedule just cleared for the evening on Thursday, May 25.
It would be an honor and a privilege to join your table, if you'll have me.
Cheers,

Sounds awesome! I thought the thursday evening was the Venture Captain dinner?

Grand Lodge

Um, I'd love to be in the 5-Star game. Count me in; just let me know the time and Tier.

I will be at the Doubletree when you arrive.

Grand Lodge

My PFS number is 11363. (Is that the number you guys posted earlier for the session tracker?)

Oh, and by 5-Star table do you mean only 5-Star DMs are allowed to play?

I'll likely have my third star before the Con.

What are the hours on the above games?

Dataphiles

I am happy to play at any table that's not running a module. My pfs number is 91173, and I am on the session tracker.

Grand Lodge

I don't think the timing on any have been set yet. For Tineke's game, it may depend on when Lawrence is available.

Hmm

No; Woran needs a VO to observe her table to qualify for Five Star Island. Anyone may play at the table, regardless of star number.

Liberty's Edge

Woran what scenario are you going to run, do you know yet?

Shadow Lodge

Rather than try to list out things here, I'd rather go back to Warhorn like the previous years.

Walter, what time are you starting and is there potentially another opten seat?

Grand Lodge

I'll try to make it to the Warhorn site Monday or Tuesday, try to figure out how this fancy-thinking-box works on websites not called Paizo, espn, or hotmail. Wish me luck.

But please, please keep me in mind for some games on Thursday: early morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, evening -- anytime. I'll be up and about by 8:00 or so Thursday morning to meet you in the lobby of the Doubletree (or my room or yours). And seeing an angel get its wings, or you know, a DM get its fifth Star, well, how can I miss out?!

Grand Lodge

@Woran/@Hmm,

If you're preparing #8-16 The House of Harmonious Wisdom (Tiers 1-5) for PaizoCon anyway, that would be perfect for your 5-Star GM game on Thursday, May 25. I selected it myself for my own 5-Star GM game (for personal reasons). I haven't actually played it yet. If you're tracking things by PFS #, mine is 67083.

Regarding a start time, I could be there at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotels by 6:30pm. Could we plan to start about that time?

Regarding procedural matters, has your VO already completed the online nomination form? I can help you/him/her with that, if necessary.

If you or anyone else needs to reach me, you can email me at SmithLAIII@gmail.com or text me at 253-970-2090.

There's so much traffic on this thread, it's a little difficult to sort through the other conversations.

Here is the PaizoCon Warhorn used in the past. I still have admin rights and can add tables as needed.

Grand Lodge

@Woran/@Hmm,
If you have space available, my wife Jackie would like to join us for #8-16 The House of Harmonious Wisdom. Jackie Smith's PFS # is 67360. She has a half-orc Barbarian/Urban Skald-2 raised by Tian courtesans.
She's relatively new to PFS, so it would be a good opportunity to demonstrate how you handle players somewhat unfamiliar with the game and integrate them into a group with more experience. (I'm definitely not trying to set you up for failure.)
Thanks,
Larry Smith

I'm probably available to play an after 6:30 time-frame game Thursday night. My highest character is a 6th level I think. #36007. What is this session tracker you all speak of?

PFSTracker.net is a fantastic site to help coordinate play options among players. You can search by name or number, and (if they've inputed/updated the info) you can see what they've played or gm'd, regular or core. It will even filter down (though it's all or nothing).

Great mix of utility and simplicity - can take a smidge to learn to use, but easy once you have. There are some (not at all easy) utilities or browser-addons to download and automatically input your full history to the site, if the sheer number would be time consuming (but I entered about 300 for myself in under an hour).

I'm currently in an interesting position, where I have taken over VC duties. But Tonya hasnt had time yet to do the Venture Critter updates recently, so it is not 'official'.

I'll poke Auke to see if he did the online form (I did not know it existed). He's got baby brain so who knows if he did it ;)

I am available the whole thursday for games. I had heard that thursday evening is the venture captain dinner? I dont know if the change will go trough. If it does, it is something I would want to attend (its probably not mandatory, but its my first time for everything this paizocon :) )

Apparently you fill it out after the game?

I believe the VC dinner is Thursday night. First time for me too, but I have been told by another VC that it is then.

Liberty's Edge

I've added slots at 1PM and 6:30PM on the Warhorn. I also added a table of me running 4-06 The Green Market (Nizari's request) in the afternoon.

I didn't add Woran's table yet, because it sounds like there is some confusion; currently it sounds like she'll run at 6:30, but I don't know if the VCs who've said they'll be there realize that the VC dinner is at the same time.

Sovereign Court

I would love to get in on a pre-con game for my first PaizoCon. My flight gets in about 2pm, so it sounds like I'll miss the early afternoon. I'm Kyrand (63420) on pfstracker.net, but for a good game, I'm also willing to use a replay. :)

Grand Lodge

Okay... Let's find out the timing of the VC dinner. Tineke... Are you saying that you're going to be the new VC for the Netherlands, or that you are filling in for Auke at Paizocon? Lawrence are you available earlier? We clearly cannot do evening if the VC dinner is then.

Hmm

I'll second putting everything in Warhorn.
It will help with organizing and planning and seeing what slots
still have open seats.

Hmm

I will be the new VC for the netherlands. Just waiting for Tonya to flip the online switch (Quentin will take my place as VA)

Grand Lodge

Thanks for the link, TOZ!
And Hmm

.

I'm having trouble confirming my email. (These fancy-thinking-boxes are just beyond me sometimes.)

But I'm all signed up and put my multi-class, Super Diplomacy/ Super Bluff/ Super Knowledge-Skills PC in for "The Green Market" run by Rob Knop.

That far in advance, you might want to check the local PFS website (closer to the time of course) for games. There are both Monday and Wednesday game nights around the area.

^ Current Warhorn link.

Congratulations (and condolences for the loss of all your future free time) on being the new VC for the Netherlands, Tineke!

Out of curiosity, how is your name pronounced? Is it tee-nay-kay or tih-neck-y or something else?

Hmm

Oh, I dont know if I can get you to pronounce it right. The I is pronounced more like the ei in neither.

So something like tei-neck-e.

I'll also teach you how to say 'scheveningen' and stroopwafel :P

Tineke (Woran),
I would be glad to sit in on your table as a VC. I believe the Paizocon VC dinner will be around 6-7pm based on the past few I have attended. If you are about to be a new VC or representing Auke, You should be able to attend. We may be able to start earlier, then take a break for the VC dinner, and complete the game after the Dinner. We did the same thing a few years ago at Gencon for a 5-star/VC table. My plane arrives around one pm.
As an aside, I believe we have played together in the Netherlands in the past. I was one of the certifying VOs for Auke's 5-Star game (where we had 2 future RVC's, Auke and Dave Harrison), at another game run by Vincent (Serimpunk)I played my PFS Red Mantis Assassin.

I wouldn't mind some stroopwafels for breakfast. With maple syrup and banana slices.

I actually havent been around PFS that long. I was not at Auke's 5 star game, but it would be awesome to have you at mine.

I dont know how official info/invites for the VC dinner go. If Tonya does not manage to put the VC change trough before PaizoCon, I will be representing Auke (and my future self).

Also, I will be bringing as many stroopwafels as Delta will allow me to bring :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Leg o' lamb gets a bonus stroopwafel ;)

Grand Lodge

@Woran/@Hmm,
If, as expected, the VC dinner is Thursday evening, you'll need to find another VC able to join your 5-star GM qualification session. (I don't really have another evening free May 22 till PaizoCon starts.

@Tineke --

For a yank, I have a fairly good ear. I look forward to the language lessons. Tineke, you'd better pick who's at your table because I think you have far more volunteers than available seats.

Also... I have the flip maps for House of Harmonious Wisdom that I could lend to you, but I may have to hold back Hill Country because it looks like both Bret and I may need that one for PSA. Do you own your own copy of Hill Country?

If you don't you should spend your Paizo store credit on it. It is one of the most ubiquitous maps in PFS.

@Larry --

Bummer, but we'll catch you later this convention. Expect a hug (or twelve) at some point.

It's been over ten years since I had them last (which also corresponds to the last time I visited), so I will take whatever you think is the best.

Hmm

I have hill country. I am trying to get the whole set for the quest complete.

Who to seat at the table would depend if people are up to splitting the table due to the VC dinner happening. The quest would lend itself for that. (Two qusts before and three after the dinner for example)

EDIT: I think if Lawrence doesnt participate we could move the whole thing to the afternoon

The Exchange

Alright... I get in Wednesday and should be free most of Thursday, including the morning. I'll definitely be up for a game or two that day.

Tineke, I'd be honored to be at your table if you still need players. :)

Since I won't be GM'ing anything else all weekend, I'd be more than happy to be a GM for one of these pre-con games.

Perhaps a group wanting to run through the All for Immortality series? I've run it 3 times and should be able to get that going fairly well for the convention.

Eagerness! Excitement! Exhilaration! Trepidation?

I really want to play All for Immortality but I am a little unsure of this idea, though. I haven't been able to get a table together so I have been studiously avoiding every possible spoiler. Is this a series that could really benefit from additional time to explore the role-playing opportunities? I know the first time I played Eyes of the Ten it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun if we'd had a time limit. (Part 3 was our shortest, which clocked in a little over 8 hours.)

Anyone want to DM a quick PFS Scenario Thursday morning: 8:30 to 1:00?!

Between me and Belafon and Jhaeman, and maybe Nizari and Majuba -- we've got enough folks to play a Scenario. Any takers for a DM?

.

(Maybe even High level, 10th or 11th?)
