Would you tell that story?
There are two times I was mistaken for a bear, actually...
About ten years ago, I was tent camping with my wife and young daughter at Acadia National Park. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. The moon had set by then, and it was very dark. On the way back from the bathroom, my flashlight completely died, and I was having a hard time finding our campsite. I went into what I thought was our site, but it wasn't... and I tripped over the other camper's propane stove that was still set up on the ground. That woke up the campers in their tent, and I heard a woman say, "Jim! Wake up! I think there's a bear out there!"
Then there was the time I went to a gay bar with some friends to see a band...

Unrelated (he says, as he tugs on a long shirt), but, uh, does your thread happen to follow FaWtL rules? No reason...
Um... I don't know what "FaWtL" rules are. Would you explain?
It's a joke because FaWtL rules (the rules for the FaWtL threads) are:
- no sports
- no politics
- no religion (things like, "I'll pray for you!" or whatnot are fine)
- whoever posts at the top of the page is considered naked until they mention they put clothes back on; casual change of topic, I'm totally dressed, by the way

So, not a question, but I thought I'd share...
While going through some 20-year-old boxes of junk in my attic, I uncovered some AD&D treasures from my youth!
When I was in college back in the late '80s/early '90s, I was on the editorial board of a D&D fanzine that was also nominally the montly newsletter of the Cornell University gaming club.
I found the first 13 issues of that newsletter! For a fanzine, it had some pretty high production value.
And they are now scanned for your reading enjoyment.
Additionally, I came across two AD&D tournament adventures that I co-wrote. I'm still really proud of these adventures, and I think they stand the test of time. Unfortunately, they were printed on a dot-matrix printer, and the ink has faded with time in places, making sections hard to read. My OCR software also can't decipher dot-matrix text, so I I left those as image files.
So I present: The Horror of Castle Nostromo (1989) and One of Our Wyverns Is Missing (1990).
A note about the latter: It looks like I've lost some of the maps and five of the six pregenerated characters that were designed for the adventure. I've put out a call to my co-authors to see if they still have copies so that I can update the files.
Enjoy!

What's your favorite dinosaur and can I borrow a quarter?
Oh, it seems I've already asked those questions earlier in the thread. So, umm... if you could have any ONE thing right now, what would it be?
A two-week vacation. I could really use some time to unwind.
I am taking a five-day vacation over Memorial Day Weekend. While I'm sure it'll be fun, I am not expecting Paizocon to be relaxing...

I found more old AD&D stuff from my college days in the boxes from my attic!
Several more issues of the gaming magazine Sorcerer's Almanac (1989-1993). (I was on the editorial board)
Sorcerer's Spellbook, a collection of new spells for AD&D 2e (1990). (NOTE on the title: This was before spontaneous casters in general and the sorcerer class in particular. "Sorcerer" was the level name for 9th-level wizards.)
I also found two more old AD&D 2e adventures I wrote or co-wrote: "Mission of Mercy" and "Galena."
Enjoy!
