Obtaining Raise Dead

My character has made a serious mistake... In an attempt to clear a town of werewolves, my character killed a fairly important npc that was innocent. He is currently trying to find a way to fix that mistake by bringing the person back to life. I'm trying to find a inexpensive way of doing this. Any suggestions?

What do you need them for? You could use Speak with Dead.

Unfortunately at 5000 GP I'm pretty sure Raise Dead is the cheapest option. If you have a Druid Reincarnation is a 4th level spell and only costs 1000 GP.

How important is this NPC? If it's a beloved mayor or something the town may be able to cough up some coin.

The NPC is a human noble and is important because his sister is the town's alchemist who is attempting to develop a cure for the lycanthropy without using wolfsbane. With our NPC noble dead, he can't cover up the fact that his sister(the alchemist) is insane. Once the insanity is exposed the town will most likely cut her funding on the lycanthrope cure. Lycanthropy is a major problem for this small town.

If you need a scroll of Reincarnation it would cost 2400 gp, and any Divine Caster could take a stab. You can also just hire a Druid for 1280 gp. Reliably that would take at least a Small City.

A paladin with the feat Ultimate Mercy could possibly do it cheaper. It's pretty situational, and might be a side quest, but if money is the problem it might be the way to go.

An 11th-level Monk of the Healing Hand can also do it w/o material cost. They're supposed to be really into healing others, so they shouldn't charge you too much for it... if you can find one. If enough time goes by that raise dead won't cut it, at 15th level they get resurrection.
